Settings worth knowing

The few settings that change how tests behave, and where to find them.

This test, or this computer

Both apps have a Settings menu with two entries.Project Settings belong to the open test and travel with it.Preferences belong to this computer and apply to everything you do on it.

Either app's Preferences can be exported to a .gtsprefs file and imported on another computer, so a team shares one setup.API keys, your sign-in and a Jira token are never part of the file.

Project Settings: one test

SettingWhat it is for
Description, authorWhat the test covers and who to ask.Write the starting state here.
Search SensitivityHow sure the GTS Engine + AI must be before it says "found".See below.
Enhanced Accuracy PassHow far a visual check looks past the moment it found its element, to be verified on its best frame.
Run OnThe screen the test runs on when the computer has several monitors: the one it was recorded on, the main screen, a given monitor, or all of them.
Web AppFor a test recorded on a web app: whether its browsers and devices run without a browser window, and which browsers, devices and conditions it is made for.
Baseline ProfilesThe environments this test knows: dark mode, browsers, languages.
AI Smart VerificationWhether minor differences the AI finds count as a failure for this test.
VersionsWhich app versions wrote the test.Read only.

Search Sensitivity

When a check looks for its element, the GTS Engine + AI gives each candidate a score: how sure it is that this is the element. The Search Sensitivity, 70 % by default, is the score it needs.

If youThen
Lower itAn element that changed a lot is still found. The risk: a look-alike could be taken for it.
Raise itOnly a very close match is accepted. The risk: a small rendering change means not found.
ExampleWhen to touch it

Rarely. If one element is often "not found" while you can see it on the screen, first make its visual target smaller and more distinctive.Change the Search Sensitivity only when that is not enough.

GUI Test Runner-Recorder's Preferences

PageWhat you find there
GeneralLanguage, the theme, the keys for Stop, Pause and Abort, the questions before recording and before a run, the start-up guide, the graphics card, the game controller, whether browsers and devices run side by side, and the usage statistics switch.
Recording DefaultsWhat a recording checks by itself, how long its checks wait, the frame rate, and on a computer with several monitors the screen a recording uses (Record On) and whether to ask before each recording.
Visual Assert DefaultsThe strictness and options new visual checks start with.
AIAI Smart Verification: on or off, cloud or local.
Confidence ReportThe report's guide and what it shows.

Recording settings apply to new recordings; a test you already recorded keeps its own.

Switches of the General page worth knowing

SwitchWhat it changes
Check that the screen is where the test starts before each runOn by default: a run whose screen does not show the recording's first moment is held back with both pictures.Off, the test runs on whatever the screen shows.
Run and generate the browsers and devices that need no window at the same timeOn by default: the versions of a web test that need no browser window run side by side, up to four at once depending on the computer.
Show the Test running banner during a runOn by default: a thin blue banner at the top of the screen says a test is running. It is never in what the test sees, and clicks pass through it.
Usage statisticsWhether the apps send anonymous usage statistics: what is recorded and run, never a test's content.Off empties the queue and erases this computer on our side.See the privacy policy.
